On 17th July,2011, the Department of Neuroscience, School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia has established the program"Brain Research and Awareness: 1 Nation (BRAIN) '& Schools' Opening Ceremony.This Neuroscience Club project brings the opening of two school-based Neurosciences Clubs, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan Kubang Kerian 3 (SKKK3) and Sekolah Menengah SainsTengku Muhammad Faris Petra (SMSTMFP). The program was held at Dewan Siswa Pembangunan Siswa,Kampus Kesihatan,USM from 8 am to 5 pm and organized by Division of Industry & Society and Department of Neurosciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. At 8.00 am, the Neuroscience club members arrived at USM.Then, the program started with a welcome speech the chairman of the council, and continued with a speech by a representative PPSP and ICN Health Campus, Col (Rtd) Dr. Wan Pauzy Wan Ibrahim. Puan Seri Dewi Ibrahim, headmaster of SK Kubang Kerian 3 and En.Kamaruddin Jaafar, the principal of SM Sains Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra have gave very meaningful speech.Then, this program was inaugurated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of USM Penang ICN, Prof. Dato' Susie See Ching Mey.Press conferences and photo shoots are also being held. Great,right? At 10.30 to 11.00 in the morning, we enjoyed morning coffee.Then ,we needed to involve in "Neuro Amazing Race(Phase 1)”. There are many interesting games. We were very happy and absolutely having a great fun doing so.Neuro Amazing Race required the usage of mind of wisdom, creativity skills and speed of action in solving problems in daily life.The three groups that have been successful in Neuro Amazing Race (Phase 1) are the Astrocyte, Oligodendrocyte, Schwann.The 3 groups competed in Neuro Amazing Race (Phase2). Meanwhile, other groups which is Neurons, Glial,Inter-neurons and Purkinje competed in the ‘dikir barat’ competition.The groups that have won are Neurons, Glial, Inter-neuron.At 4.30 to 5.00 pm, the present giving event was held.After that,the council disbanded.We are having a good time at USM and learned a lot on that day!!  a lot of fun and excitement!
